Today on the blog, I am featuring some of my favorite healthy food items and how I incorporate them in my daily diet. These favorites are always listed on My Favorites page of my blog. Keep checking back to that page as I test and try out new products.
When I was first starting out on my health journey, I remember feeling overwhelmed and confused on how to use protein powders or when to have certain snacks. So, I thought to put together this quick “tutorial” on how I use these favorites.
Kodiak Cakes Power Cakes
This a pancake and waffle mix that is a great alternative if you are craving regular buttermilk pancakes for breakfast! They taste just as good. There are three different recipes on the box, one being the easiest where you just add water to the mix. But I power mine up with protein by adding one egg and replacing water with cashew milk. I don’t use syrup on my pancakes but instead I add blueberries or strawberries. I eat these once a week, usually on a day when I am doing cardio to put those carbs to good use. You can find more ideas and recipes on how to use this mix here.
Orgain Complete Protein Shake
I eat 3 full meals and 2-3 snacks a day. One of the snacks is usually a protein shake/smoothie. When I don’t have time to make a protein shake, I reach for this Iced Cafe Mocha flavor from Orgain. It tastes so yummy, especially if chilled!
Orgain Creamy Chocolate Fudge Protein Powder
When I do have time to make a protein shake/smoothie, this flavor from Orgain is one of my favorites. I shared my protein smoothie recipe in this post. I personally don’t substitute a full meal with a protein shake/smoothie but for a snack, it’s a great choice!
Bob’s Red Mill Chocolate Protein Powder
Aside from protein shakes/smoothies, protein powders can also be used to make protein pancakes from scratch. I use Bob’s Red Mill Chocolate Protein Powder when I am craving chocolate protein pancakes.
I use Anna Victoria’s recipe found here. Again, I don’t add syrup but fruit of choice for a yummy healthy breakfast.
I tried the vanilla flavor of this brand and would not recommend it. The chocolate is so much better.
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder
I wrote a whole post about Vital Proteins here and how I use this supplement in my everyday morning coffee.
PB Fit Peanut Butter Powder
This is peanut butter powder. I recently started drizzling a little in my protein shake/smoothie snack. I also sprinkle this on a bowl of non-fat Greek Yogurt with fruit for another yummy snack option.
Power Crunch Protein Bars
This is my favorite brand for on-the-go protein bar snack. It has the best macros and low sugar content. Plus, it curbs my sweet tooth craving. I have yet to try a flavor I do not like from this brand but one of my favorite is the triple chocolate. So good!
One thing though is I don’t have more than one a day because when you start to activate your sweet tooth too much, it becomes harder and harder to reverse it. I usually resort to these more on the weekend when I know we are attending a party/gathering and I will be tempted with dessert.
Hope this was helpful in breaking down these items from My Favorites page. Feel free to ask me any questions below. As always, thank you for stopping by and don’t forget to subscribe to the blog!
