The happiest new year to you friends! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season. In today’s blog post, I wanted to share with you my best beauty buys (skincare and makeup) of 2017. Some of these products I had to try out from hearing all the rave about them while some I accidentally stumbled upon and so glad I did! So grab your cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy this roundup.
Skincare
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides: If you follow me on Instagram, you know I am obsessed with Vital Protein Collagen Peptides. I add a scoop of this supplement to my morning coffee each and every single day. Taking this supplement has done wonders to the health of my skin and hair this year. To give you an idea, I have middle-eastern coarse curly hair that usually takes me 50-60 minutes to straighten. But over the course of the past 6 months, I noticed my hair is stronger and much smoother, that I am able to straighten my hair in under 30 minutes tops! Plus any collagen boost to aging skin is a plus in my book.
Revitalash: This eyelash conditioning serum is amazing! My lashes are visibly longer and thicker, and I get compliments on them all the time. I dedicated an entire post here on how to practically grow you lashes using this serum and my other makeup tricks.
LilyAna Naturals Retinol Cream: This is one of those brands I accidentally stumbled upon when I was browsing Amazon one day. I could not get over the amount of rave reviews and the affordable price of this retinol cream. I was hesitant at first because past retinol creams dried out my skin. But I know the benefits of retinol in general and decided to give this one a chance. I was pleasantly surprised that this has a more moisturizing-cream feel to it and is sensitive enough to use even around the eye area. I apply it once a day as part of my nightly routine.
LilyAna Naturals Vitamin C Serum: I never really used Vitamin C serums before but decided to add this to my beauty routine in 2017 and so glad I did! This definitely helps with brightening up your skin and giving it an even tone. I walked in to Ulta one day with a completely bare makeup-free face and the lady at the counter kept complimenting me on my complexion. I apply this serum once in the morning before my makeup. I feel the combination of this serum with the nightly retinol cream has done wonders to my skin.
Makeup
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation: Have you heard all the rave about this foundation? Well, I am here to tell you that it is all true! The consistency of this foundation is down right perfection. It can be worn as an everyday flawless coverage or build-able for the extra glam makeup looks. I apply it with a damp beauty blender and it goes on like a dream, with the perfect amount of coverage. Get yourself to an Estee Lauder makeup counter and ask for a sample of this stuff. Trust me, you will end up loving it.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrow Duo in Dark Brown: For the longest time, I was using eyebrow pencils. This past year I decided to try this brow powder using an eyebrow brush instead and love how much more natural my eyebrows look. Use a light hand because this stuff is highly pigmented and a little goes a long way.
Bare Minerals Well-Rested Under Eye Brightener: I am blessed with under eye circles and am always looking for the latest tactics to banish them completely. Obviously, they won’t go away so I make sure I drink plenty of water (and I can definitely do better on sleep). But the game changer for me this year has been this brightening powder. You guys, it is the best! I apply this on top of my trusted NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and it makes such a huge difference in the appearance of my dark circles. It instantly makes you look wide awake. PLUS it has SPF 20 to protect your under eye areas. Even if you use your concealer alone, this powder is a must because it acts as a setting powder and helps with creasing too.
Better Than Sex Mascara: I can’t even tell you how many mascara products I tried and bottom line, this one is the best for fuller longer lashes. Grow your lashes with Revitalash, use this mascara, and you will thank me!
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder: Another product that lives up to all its rave. Ladies, if you are applying concealer or foundation to your face, you need a setting powder and this one is the best for keeping your makeup in place and lasting throughout the day without the shine.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner: This eyeliner got the Allure 2017 Reader’s Choice Award. If you are looking for an eyeliner with precision and awesome pigmentation, this one is it. You can do an easy natural line or go for the full glam cat-eye wing look.
Benefit Cosmetics Bronzer: Once you apply foundation, you tend to look a little “flat”. I do not necessarily contour my face but I bring it back to life with this bronzer. I sweep this across the top sides of my foreheads, sides of my nose, cheekbones (keeping it close to my hairline) and jaw lines. I love that it’s not too shimmery or brown so that it can mimic a very natural looking tan glow.
Benefit Cosmetics Dandelion Twinkle Highlighter: Like I said before, I do not highlight and contour my face but instead I use the bronzer above along with this highlighter to bring back dimension to my face. I absolutely love this highlighter. I apply it lightly above my blush, tip of my nose and cupid’s bow, chin and a bit above my eyebrows, and then blend for a natural pretty finish.
Huda Liquid Matte Lipstick: I purchased this at the Sephora checkout counter on a whim without trying it on because the color Trendsetter grabbed my attention. I have olive skin so plum and red lipsticks work best for my complexion. But I can’t pull off glam lipsticks grocery shopping or for every day look. I tried hundreds of neutral shades and the result would always be the same: a washed-out complexion or deathly-ill look. Do you know what I am talking about? But this shade in particular is perfect for every day wear! And the formula consistency is amazing. The matte finish is so rich, well-pigmented and lasts all day. This got me excited to try out her other beauty products for sure.
What do you all think of this roundup? Have you tried any of these products? I would love to hear your feedback in the comments below.
